The Mary Lile Love Benham collection, ca. 1940-1991. --

The collection contains mainly the literary papers, articles, and manuscripts of this Manitoba writer. Born in 1914 in Winnipeg as the granddaughter of Edward L. Drewry, founder of the city's first brewery and an early city councillor, she graduated with a B.A. from the University of Manitoba in 1935. She died in 1991, and her family published a limited ed. of The Family Works of Mary Lile Benham in her memory in 1996. Apart from ca. six local history books, there are also many unpublished creative writings in poetry and prose, as well as radio plays, television scripts, and journalistic endeavours.
